"What A Shock"

The Detroit Shock completed a three-game sweep of the San Antonio Silver Stars by beating them 76-60 to capture their third WNBA Championship.  Katie Smith, who was a member of the USA's gold-medal winning Olympic team, was named MVP of the of the league Finals.

Detroit became the second team in league history to win a third championship. Only the Houston Comets, who won the first four (1997-2000), have more. Los Angeles (2001, 2002) is the only other team with more than one. The Shock lost the 2007 title to the Phoenix Mercury in a five-game finals match-up.
